I just started story mode for the first time. I made it till you see the wolf eating. I scared him away with a rock then cooked and ate the meat. Then I died of being to cold.

They removed the cougar before i could even encounter it.

Love Ash Canyon- a gorgeous region. But one that gets me turned around and lost so easily, especially if a blizzard comes in, or fog down in the Bottoms. Other than the TFTFT regions, AC is probably the one I am least familiar with.

lol your surprise at the one-shot anticlimax 😂 I wish it was possible to craft a knife or a whittled collectible keepsake or something out of the moose antlers. Missing the olden days when it was still possible to goat climb on top of the beds and work bench in the Hut and huddle away in Timberwolf blizzards just crafting stuff on top of the desk. I have mixed feelings about the new carcass harvesting animation. Makes sense for the hide maybe, but it replays for every batch of meat? It's so... vertigo-ey 😄 I never thought I would feel nostalgic for that little loading hourglass symbol, but I kinda do.

I absolutely love that spot, best moose hunt in the game by a mile lol! I got one up there with a pistol in about 4 seconds, I still use the clip in my end credits 🤣

Ass and snooter shots have the best chance for a one-shot crit on the Moose, lol. And for some reason it seems to happen more with the butt shots. 😆

"one last set of containers" My friendly neighbourhood Waff, there are 2 sets of containers you've not opened up yet. There's a set up the hill overlooking the lake amid the Oaks you must have forgotten about, as you've walked right past it several times. Granted, you were dealing with wolves each time, but still, they are there and you've not gone to them yet. When you were harvesting the acorns, you came so close to those bins too! BTW, before you go leaving tools behind, you might want to check up on what you need to process those acorns, and take a closer look at the burdock you've been mostly ignoring. It's not JUST medicine.

Love the vids they’ve been very helpful. I’m on console & can’t figure out how to update the map, Been all over the internet & can’t find one good tutorial.

If you can figure out the bow, it's probably the best weapon in terms of how much you can hunt vs how light it is. It's an effective weapon against every animal, you won't even need to stone rabbits if you have fire hardened arrows. I've one shot a moose with the bow before and taken down dozens of everything else besides bears. Not to mention it's very sustainable even in the late game with beachcombing and retrieving your arrows.

The stuff you get in timber wolf mountain is unreal!

Never treat sprains when you know you're on a slope and are likely to get new sprains- solid strategy, especially if you know you won't need to climb or equip a weapon until you get down to flatter ground. You can only have 4 sprains at one time, You are the goatiest of mountain goats. ;)

Don't underestimate the Hammer. They're a lot more Heavily used then they used to be.

good video style, personally never got to grips with guns as a defense mechanism in the long dark and probably never will given that I'm a solid interloper player who sees any amount of loot as too much loot. Planning is definitely important and the necessary skills of being aware of how to evade danger is definitely something everyone needs to learn playing this game regardless of difficulty. I feel like new players get in these traps of single objectives and also not seeing the game as the diverse sandbox that is it.

Finally I've caught up to all the episodes

God, I remember watching you around 5 years ago when I was 12 and super into the long dark. I remember the first video was the wolf one because I wanted to stop playing on easy mode but was afraid of them. I remember this series fondly, especially that mic quality here lol. But I got sidetracked and totally forgot about you (Which sounds terrible to say) Despite enjoying your content so much back then. But coming back 5 years later, hearing that mic quality brought back so many memories. Now that I'm 17 and probably a more appropriate age to watch and play this game, I'm glad I will finally be able to finish this series and continue watching you. Despite the watch time lasting so little (Again, sounds bad lol) You played such a big part in that section of my life and I just wanted to thank you for that.

The only 2 things I ever use a rifle for- Moose and Bear. I've killed a Moose with the revolver before, but it was a pure luck nose crit shot while being charged, and having nothing else on me. I've also emptied 24 revolver rounds into the Moose and had it still stomping around below the tree I was up in (Hunting Lodge) and it took forever for it to go awayyyyyyyy...

"If it doesn't turn into a blizzard, which... it's pleasant valley" 🤣 And if you are equipped for the wolves, Three Strikes is not a terrible place to spend some outdoor time in PV if you are equipped for the wolves, which you are. There's a ton of wood around and a fire barrel in the barn so you can sleep there even in a blizzard and still be "outside." Ps... WOW you travel light!
